prompt 34: This month

34. Lists for the month.

What’s significant about this month? Birthdays. Anniversaries. Holidays. Calendar dates. Memories. The season.

As ‘Listuary’ first premiered in February, here are some prompts for the second month of the year. What are the lists for the months of the rest of the year?

Birthday wishes.

What have you wished for? What’s come true? What has changed over the years?

When I was five I wished for…

When I was twelve I wished for…

When I was 18 I wished for…

When I was 30 I wished for…

Now I wish for…

Reimagine the wishes. Choose a character, a person, an animal, an object, a place: what are the things they (or it) would wish for?

Valentine’s - or anti-Valentine’s…

  • Write a list of romantic things.

  • Of grand gestures (real or imagined) - a trip to Paris perhaps.

  • Of everyday moments - “he changed my oil…”

Or... write an anti-Valentine’s list. What’s the opposite of Valentine’s? What’s profoundly unromantic?

It’s in your hands.
